Smoked Lemon Paloma
A tequila Paloma with grapefruit soda and fresh lime, finished with a Dried Yet. smoked lemon slice for a smoky citrus garnish.
A smoky citrus finish for a Paloma
The Smoked Lemon Paloma pairs tequila, grapefruit soda and fresh lime juice with a Dried Yet. Smoked Lemon Slice. Grapefruit and lime already make this a citrus-forward drink, while the smoked lemon garnish adds a darker visual note and a different citrus aroma at the rim.
Build the drink over ice, top with grapefruit soda and stir gently. Place the smoked lemon wheel on the rim or tuck it beside the ice only after the drink is mixed so the garnish stays visible.
Serving and presentation
A highball glass gives the grapefruit soda room and keeps the garnish high in the glass. Use one smoked lemon wheel as the finishing element rather than adding more citrus to the measured recipe.
For several drinks, keep the tequila and lime measured consistently, top each glass with the same amount of grapefruit soda, then finish with the smoked lemon slice at service.
More garnish options for tequila drinks
Smoked lemon is one way to change the presentation of an agave cocktail. Dried lime, smoked lime and orange can cover margaritas, palomas and tequila highballs with different visual cues. Compare them in our tequila and margarita garnish guide, or browse all cocktail garnishes.
